The newly
refurbished Restaurant at The White Horse Inn, Compton
Bassett, has achieved wide renown for the excellence of
service, the quality of the produce from only the best
suppliers and the dedicated and skilful way that Danny and
his team of chefs ply their trade.
Lunchtime at the White Horse Inn is a relaxed affair where you
can drop in for snacks, drinks and classic pub meals,
including fish and chips and that good old pub classic
sausages and mash. Here, however, as you would expect the
dish has a twist: the sausages are homemade in the kitchen.
Diners who are looking for a little more are also
well catered for with tasty treats such as scallops, crab
and steak.
In the evening you can relax in the bar or have a
table in the restaurant to enjoy the great fare on offer.
The seasonal game is from the pub’s own farm in Fifield,
near Salisbury and includes venison. The evening menu now
also has a distinctly French/Mediterranean flavour to
complement the traditional English fare.
Danny and his kitchen team pride themselves on
serving freshly prepared, skilfully cooked dishes. They buy
the finest available ingredients including seasonal and
local produce, with a strong emphasis on supporting local
businesses. All
meals are homemade meaning dishes can always to be tailored
to your particular needs. Even pasta is handmade on the
premises for the gorgeous tagliatelle dishes.
Businesses
from far and wide use the restaurant for business
breakfasts, lunches or corporate entertaining in the
evening. With seating in the restaurant for up to sixty
people it is just right for large family events, birthdays,
christenings or as an intimate wedding reception venue.
" We went for a meal last week and was very impressed with both service and food. Would recommend this pub to anyone. Superb country setting. "
